About reidy metal services
reidy metal services, inc soon became the leader in metal refinishing in the Denver metro area.
Jerry Reidy began working in the metal refinishing industry in the early 1960s in his hometown of Chicago. With over fifteen years of experience in refinishing and sales, Jerry decided to break out on his own and started reidy metal services, inc in 1978.
Metal refinishing was becoming a competitive field in the midwest, and Jerry knew that he had to prove his work- so he often offered to work for free. Once customers saw the work, they would often pay for the services rendered. Jerry drove across the country to meet with customers and soon saw the Denver area starting to expand. In 1983, Jerry and his wife, Sonja, moved the family and headquarters to Denver.
The Equitable Building- a historic Denver landmark contains a spiral staircase that was in desperate need of refinishing when reidy metal services arrived in town. Jerry, and his daughter, Kelly, worked tirelessly to refinish the tarnished staircase to bring the rose bronze finish back to its original glory. The building held a special place in Jerry’s heart as it was the first building he started to maintain in 1983; the reidy metal team still proudly maintains the building over forty years later.
reidy metal services, inc soon became the leader in metal refinishing in the Denver metro area. Jerry ran sales and worked on the crews while Sonja ran the office. Jerry and Sonja believed in taking care of their employees and offering opportunities to ensure their success. Whether it be on the crews, sales, or in the office- several reidy employees have celebrated 30 years or more working with the company. All four of Jerry and Sonja’s children have worked for the company in some capacity. After Kelly graduated college, she quickly became involved with the operational and sales side of the business, while continuing the company’s involvement in Denver Metro BOMA. By the late 1980s, reidy metal services, inc had expanded to the midwest in Omaha, Des Moines, Minneapolis, and Kansas City.
Relationships and education became core values of reidy metal with Jerry and Kelly leading the charge. Metal refinishing was not a widely understood field when reidy entered the market, so Jerry and Kelly took time to explain the cost saving benefits to property managers and building owners. The team at reidy metal services continues to educate customers on the process and best practices of metal refinishing while building honest and fair relationships.
As the family business continued to expand and thrive, reidy metal services, inc became a Women Owned Small Business in 2010, when Kelly bought the company. Kelly continued to be a strong advocate and participant in Denver Metro BOMA while educating customers on the importance of metal refinishing, and researching and testing green products.
The family business continues to thrive with the third generation of Reidy’s carrying on Jerry and Sonja’s legacy and memory. Kelly’s children, Kate and Brad, are proud to carry on the Reidy name as they continue to expand reidy metal services in Denver and surrounding markets.
